New USPS delivery regulations
JULY 2008 - The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is initiating new regulations effective November 2008 which will significantly impact mailing costs. To keep these costs down and improve the accuracy of your addresses, Our Sunday Visitor is taking several steps to achieve “Total Address Quality” (TAQ). Through TAQ, we will ensure that your parishioner addresses are up to date and in compliance with USPS rules. This development will require little or no effort from you as we are in the process of implementing the tools to keep your mailings accurate.
Currently, when an address contains invalid or incomplete information, it's returned to your parish as undeliverable and the parish incurs the return postage fee. Your parish is responsible for paying postage to resend the mail. Our new TAQ process will cleanse your parishioner list using USPS certified software to make sure that it's validated with their database.
Cost-effective and timely delivery of your mail is dependent on a quality USPS address. Our goal is to help resolve address errors, saving you the hassle of having to send multiple mailings. You’ll also see an increase in collections due to less undeliverable mail.
Once we make changes to your parishioner list, we’ll contact you with the address updates for use in your own database. If you’re currently a user of OLM-E (Online List Manager), the changes will be updated automatically and you’ll be able to view the corrections at any time. We will continue to send you more correspondence as more information becomes available.
